Salvation
While I designed this study out of a need for my family, I am excited to share it with others. I hope it helps strengthen your relationship with the Lord. However, I would be distraught if someone were to complete the study but never trusted Christ as their savoir. Being saved means you get to go to heaven instead of hell when you die. Being saved means you trust that Jesus paid the penalty for your sin. You aren’t trusting in yourself. You aren’t trusting in your good deeds. You aren’t trusting that God will let everyone in. You are trusting only in Jesus and his free gift of salvation.
Do you want Jesus to save you? Follow these three easy steps:
1. Admit that you are a sinner.
Romans 3:23 – For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.
Romans 3:10 – As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one.
Romans 6:23 – For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Ephesians 2:8-9 – For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.
We have all sinned. We have all done wrong things or had wrong attitudes. These wrongs don’t have to be big; they can be as simple as telling a lie, being selfish in our hearts and our actions, or worshiping our material goods and activities above the Lord. Jesus is the only person who has lived a sinless life. Because we are all sinners, we have all earned an eternity in hell, separated from God.
2. Believe in your heart that Jesus died for your sins, was buried, and that God raised him from the dead.
John 3:16-18 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Romans 10:9-10 – That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Jesus came to earth to die for us while were still sinning. He didn’t come to condemn us to an eternity in hell. He came to offer us a way out of it! God wants us to spend eternity in heaven with him. That is why God sent his Son Jesus to earth. Jesus came to save! The Bible says that Jesus is only way to be saved from this eternity in hell. While God prepared and gave us this gift, it is up to us to actually accept it. To accept this gift, we must believe that Jesus is Lord and that God has raised him from the dead.
3. Call on the Lord to save you.
Romans 10:13 – For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Once you believe, you must actually call on Him to save you. Do you want Jesus to save you? If so, sincerely pray and ask Jesus to be your savior. The words themselves aren’t what get you to heaven, it is you putting your faith and trust in Jesus that gets you there. You may ask him to save you with your own words or please feel free to use the prayer below:
Lord, I am a sinner. I am sorry for the wrongs I have done against you and against others. I am separated from you and have earned an eternity in hell. I believe that you sent your son to save me. I believe that he lived a sinless life and that he came to earth to pay the penalty for my sin. I believe that Jesus died on the cross and that God raised him from the dead on the third day. I put my faith and trust in Jesus as my Lord and Savoir. Please come into my heart and save me. Amen.
