How the Study Works

What You Need for the Study:
- Your Bible
- Holman Bible Atlas (ISBN 978-0-8054-9760-1)
- A notebook.
Please note, you can do this study alone or in a group. Even so, I highly recommend working through this study with others if at all possible. Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend (Proverbs 27:17.)
The Weekly Schedule
First, you will start your week by watching a video that will provide content for either the readings of the week or general content on a topic found in the Bible. I recommend you watch this video together with your Bible study group. In addition, once you are finished watching your video, meet with your group and reflect on what you wrote in your journal. This would entail you discussing what God spoke to you about in the prior week.
Next, you will spend time during the week reading either your Bible or the Holman Bible Atlas. Typically, the readings and activities are completed over four days per week. You will also be recording and journaling what you are reading in a notebook. If you are reading from the Holman Bible Atlas, your journaling time will be spent by taking notes. Record anything you find interesting or valuable. If you are reading from a portion of scripture, begin your time by asking God to speak to you directly through His word. As you read, look for a verse or verses that God is using to speak to you. You will journal about that verse (or verses) using the NOW acronym:

N – Name the portion of scripture that speaks to you. This portion of scripture can be one verse or it can be several. You can copy the verse in it’s entirety or you can just list the reference.
O – Observe what is happening. What is the context of the scripture? Are there any key characters, places or themes occurring? Record what you observe about this scripture.
W – Why is this scripture meaningful to you? What makes this scripture stand out? How does this portion of God’s word speak to your heart? What is God saying to you through this verse? Is this verse causing you to reflect and react? Is God calling you prayer? Journal that!
Additional Resources
You may have noticed that some of the weeks have additional resources. These are for you to peruse at you leisure and as you desire. You do not need to read through these resources. They definitely aren’t required for the study and are completely optional. However, as I was working through my research for this study, I found wonderful charts, graphs, articles, etc. I decided to include a few of those items for anyone interested in look at some additional reading material. Additionally, this section of the study is far from complete. I will be adding information regularly so make sure to check back.
